Hunger Games book & movie differences/similarities

Written by Jaidin Bradshaw

Major Difference
One of the similarities was in the arena scenes, Katniss and Petta received gifts from sponsors aka (their mentor Haymitch) but the small differences is that in the book Haymitch didn’t put notes to help them out in the arena like he did in the movie. Resulting in it being way more difficult Katniss and especially  for Petta. Katniss’s struggles are with the environment but throughout the book and movie it’s mostly with herself, the death of her father and her feelings for Gale and Petta.  Gale grew up with Katniss and helped teach her how to hunt. They have always been close to each other. Katniss didn’t need those notes in the gifts as much as Petta, she was clever from hunting and learning these skills and little things in environment by herself and with gale.

2nd Major Difference
Another difference in the movie is that the arena is half controlled by the environment and half the game makers. This gives the characters a bit more leeway and helps everyone in the arena out in some ways. In the movie the entire arena was controlled by the game makers. Either way the arena is super difficult and harsh, for example when the game makers released the fog in the movie to keep katniss’s crew from going through with their plan of destroying the arena. Resulting in Katniss doing this on her own with shooting the arrow at the sky with the electric wire.
